Will Trent è una serie tv statunitense basata sui romanzi di Karin Slaughter con protagonista l'omonimo agente speciale del Georgia Bureau of Investigations.

Abbandonato dai suoi genitori da piccolo, Will è dovuto crescere nel sistema di affidamento di Atlanta, passando da una famiglia all'altra, con conseguenze tangibili ancora oggi. Nonostante la dislessia, si è affermato fino a diventare un agente speciale del GBI, e ora è determinato a usare la sua capacità di osservazione per assicurarsi che nessuno venga abbandonato come lui.
Questa determinazione ha permesso a Will Trent (interpretato dall'attore di The Affair Ramón Rodríguez) di diventare l'agente del GBI con il più alto tasso di risoluzione dei casi. Ciò ha generato animosità in alcuni dei suoi colleghi, e anche tra gli altri agenti del Dipartimento di Polizia di Atlanta, perché gli era stato assegnato un caso di corruzione nella polizia la cui risoluzione ha portato all'arresto di alcuni di loro.

Nella quarta stagione, Will Trent si troverà faccia a faccia con l'uomo che gli ha rovinato la vita: James Ulster, l'uomo che ha ucciso sua madre e lo ha abbandonato da neonato, è evaso dal carcere. L'evento riapre ferite mai rimarginate e lo spinge a confrontarsi con una rabbia che ha sempre cercato di tenere sotto controllo. Vediamo Will che appare sempre più in bilico: sente la presenza di Ulster come una voce nella testa, perde il controllo e torna in luoghi del suo passato segnati dall’affido. Accanto a lui, la terapeuta dottoressa Roach (Margaret Cho) lo incoraggia a non reprimere le emozioni e ad accettare anche la collera come parte del percorso di guarigione.
