Cinquant'anni prima, a Seabrook si verificò un incidente alla centrale elettrica la quale provocò un'esplosione. L'impatto trasformò circa la metà della popolazione della città in zombie mangia-cervelli. Gli abitanti che non furono coinvolti costruirono un muro che separò il territorio degli zombie, chiamato Zombietown, dagli abitanti di Seabrook. In seguito, il governo creò degli appositi braccialetti per far sì che gli zombie controllassero la loro ossessione per i cervelli.
Quindici anni dopo, gli studenti di Zombietown e quelli di Seabrook iniziano a frequentare la stessa scuola, Seabrook High. Lì, Zed, un giocatore di football, nonché zombie, e Addison, una cheerleader umana, si conoscono e si innamorano. I due devono quindi unificare i due gruppi a coesistere tra loro
