AUTORE
Philip Pullman (Norwich, 19 ottobre 1946) è uno scrittore inglese, autore di romanzi, racconti e adattamenti teatrali, per i quali ha ottenuto innumerevoli riconoscimenti, tra i quali nel 2005 l’Astrid Lindgren Memorial, considerato il Premio Nobel per la letteratura per ragazzi. Figlio di un pilota della Royal Air Force, per via degli incarichi del padre da bambino ha vissuto in Australia e in Zimbabwe e ha studiato in Africa e in Galles. Dopo essersi laureato in letteratura inglese all’Exeter College di Oxford, diventa insegnante nella stessa cittadina alla Bishop Kirk Middle School, dove inizia scrivendo adattamenti teatrali per i suoi studenti, lavoro che lo spingerà a scrivere e pubblicare i primi romanzi per ragazzi . Dopo un incarico part time come professore al Westminster College di Oxford avuto tra il 1988 e il 1996, decide di abbandonare l’insegnamento per dedicarsi completamente alla scrittura. Ad oggi vive ad Oxford assieme alla moglie Judith Speller, sposata nel 1970.
