I Queen incarnano tutti gli eccessi scintillanti del rock incentrato sugli album degli anni '70, sposando la durezza dell'heavy metal con la pompa del prog rock, per poi insaporire il mix inebriante con un umorismo camp. È un mix eccentrico che si rivela sorprendentemente versatile, dando vita alla finta opera di "Bohemian Rhapsody", al rock da arena dirompente di "Somebody to Love", a pezzi rock martellanti come "Fat Bottomed Girls", al neo-rockabilly di "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" e all'escursione disco di "Another One Bites the Dust".
