To the Rising Moon è il 26° album solista di Stephan Micus per la ECM. Presenta strumenti provenienti da Colombia, India, Xinjiang (Cina), Baviera, Cambogia, Egitto e Borneo, ma al centro della scena c'è la tipla colombiana, leggermente più piccola di una chitarra acustica. Il suono soleggiato e pizzicato delle punte si alterna a corde più scure che portano uno stato d'animo più meditativo. È solo nell'ultima traccia, "To the Rising Moon", che i due mondi delle punte pizzicate e delle corde arcuate si uniscono finalmente. È come un inno a qualcosa che è eternamente lassù nel cielo notturno, qualcosa di coerente mentre c'è così tanta turbolenza nel mondo sottostante. Ancora una volta, Stephan Micus ci accompagna in un viaggio musicale unico in luoghi sconosciuti che non avrebbero potuto essere creati o suonati da nessun altro.
