L'orfano Oliver Twist raggiunge Londra dove fa amicizia con "il Dritto" che lo conduce nella sua casa, una vecchia soffitta. Qui vivono i ragazzi, comandati dal vecchio Fagin, che si serve di loro per compiere una serie di furti. Accusato di un furto commesso dai suoi compagni, Oliver viene preso sotto la protezione di un ricco signore, ma nel timore che il ragazzo possa denunciare tutti, Fagin lo rapisce riportandolo nella soffitta... È' un intelligente adattamento dell'immortale classico dickensiano in versione di commedia musicale.
