Widows - Eredità criminale è un thriller del 2018 diretto da Steve McQueen.
Siamo a Chicago: le vedove Veronica (Viola Davis), Alice (Elizabeth Debicki), Linda (Michelle Rodriguez) e Belle (Cynthia Erivo), apparentemente sembrano non avere nulla in comune. In realtà, a legarle vi è qualcosa di molto forte: una maledetta eredità. I mariti scomparsi, infatti, hanno lasciato alle donne un grosso debito, accumulato dalle loro attività criminali dopo un colpo andato male, nel quale hanno perso la vita.
Nonostante i conflitti e le tensioni, le quattro donne decidono di unirsi e prendere in mano il loro destino. Lo scopo è quello di crearsi un futuro che non dipenda più in nessun modo dal passato criminale dei loro mariti. L’asso nella manica sarà uno dei registri dei loro mariti, nel quale vi è la descrizione dettagliatissima delle rapine attuate e quelle in progettazione. Le donne unite dovranno quindi riuscire a trovare la forza in una sorprendente collaborazione per terminare una volta per tutte quello che i loro mariti defunti non hanno completato, liberandosi definitivamente di fantasmi e scheletri nell'armadio.
