All'alba degli anni Settanta, la Beverley's Records di Leslie Kong si è affermata come la principale etichetta discografica della Giamaica, dopo essersi assicurata una serie di importanti successi internazionali da parte di alcuni dei migliori talenti dell'isola.
Dopo essersi assicurato i diritti sulla produzione di Kong l'anno precedente, il gigante londinese del reggae, la Trojan Records, aveva perso poco tempo a mostrare il lavoro del produttore di Kingston su una serie di singoli e album da 7 pollici.
